Students at Brookstown Middle School are receiving white coats on Wednesday, November 28.
The event is happening in the new Aquaponics lab at Brookstown Middle School.
According to the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, “Aquaponics is the technique of raising fish and growing crops together in a closed-loop ecosystem.”
The EBR Parish School System continued by saying, “the fish waste provides an organic food source for the plants and the plants naturally filter the water for the fish”
This is the 2nd time that the White Coat Ceremony is happening and Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome is joining other local leaders including Superintendent Warren Drake at this morning’s event.
Mayor Broome is touring the Aquaponics lab this morning and the lab is “funded by ExxonMobil and The Foundation for East Baton Rouge Schools.”
The event starts at 7:30 a.m. at Brookstown Middle School located at 4375 E. Brookstown Dr.
