BELLE ROSE, La. (BRPROUD) — Assumption Parish deputies arrested two people Thursday — a man wanted on felony charges in two parishes and a woman accused of lying to authorities about housing the wanted man.

The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office said deputies spotted a vehicle driven by a man wanted on felony charges in Assumption and Lafourche parishes on Tuesday. The man was identified as Jamon Herbert, 28, of Thibodaux.

Deputies went to the home where the vehicle was parked and asked Shandrika Scott, 32, of Belle Rose about Herbert’s whereabouts, according to the sheriff’s office. Scott told deputies he was not in the home.

Herbert was found inside the home after deputies obtained and executed a search warrant.

Herbert was arrested and booked into Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of warrant for home invasion, resisting an officer and fugitive from Lafourche Parish. His bond was set at $210,000.

Scott was arrested on charges of harboring a fugitive — accessory after the fact and resisting an officer. Her bond was set at $160,000.

This isn’t the first time Herbert attempted to evade authorities by hiding in a home. In 2019, he was found by deputies in a cabinet in his home.
