BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Woman’s Hospital is partnering with The Baton Rouge Clinic to distribute COVID-19 vaccinations based on the tiers set forth by the Louisiana Department of Health.

“We had an opportunity with our extra doses that we could partner with them with our doses and their capabilities with their clinic to really reach out more to the community” said Woman’s Hospital Vice President of Quality, Cathy Griffiths.

The discussion started last week and in a matter of days, a new partnership with the hospital and the clinic was formed.

“We actually met last Friday so just several days ago and said if we have vaccines next week we’ll be ready to roll” said Griffiths.

This new distribution is still in line with the the state’s rollout plan. For now, these doses are only available to those 70-years and older, or frontline health workers.

Vaccines are given by appointment only, and the hospital says it is their mission to help the community.

“Whatever we can do to get more people vaccinated will make us all safer, make our state safer and helps our patients and our caregivers that really need that vaccine and that protection to take care of patients” said Griffiths.
