BATON ROUGE, La. (BR Proud) — The Women’s Council of Greater Baton Rouge has announced the newest class of Silver Magnolia award winners.
This year’s group of distinguished honorees includes Robelynn Abadie, Judy Bernard, Nancy McCambridge Boren, Faye Ferdinand, Donni Shields, Patsy Wilkinson, Sylvia Essex Winder and Barbara Wittkopf.
Since 2004, the Silver Magnolia award has recognized women, 70 years of age and older, in the Greater Baton Rouge Area who have made a thoughtful commitment to helping others and meaningful contributions to the community.
A special Silver Magnolia tea and recognition ceremony will be held at First United Methodist Church, 930 North Blvd. on Saturday, July 24. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the event is by invitation only. From 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., the ceremony will be streamed live on Facebook and Instagram.
The Women’s Council of Greater Baton Rouge is a nonprofit, membership organization in the Baton Rouge metropolitan area. The group is committed to enhancing the community by connecting, promoting and empowering women.
