BATON ROUGE, LA (BR-RPOUD) – Fitness experts say resistance bands are a great way to mix up your workout routine. In this weeks workout Wednesday Carly Laing talks to experts on how to create a workout using jut resistance bands.
“You may have ordered a set of these when COVID first started and you were inside and your gym was closed, so this is the time to knock the dust off of them and get a workout in.”
YMCA Personal Trainer Meredith Atterbery is talking about resistance bands.
“There are a ton of varieties of bands out there. What we are going to focus on are looped bands, or you’ll see them called mini-resistance bands. They come in a variety of different brands, colors, shapes and sizes. It doesn’t necessarily go by number of pounds that you are lifting it goes by resistance.”
Atterbery says resistance band workouts come with a variety of benefits.
“The real benefit comes from the variety. So if you’re just doing dumbbells all the time your body just kind of adapts to that. So this gives a little bit different resistance, a little bit different range of motion, just enough to confuse your muscle so you can notice more change.”
Below is a workout created by Atterbery that you can try using resistance bands.
