Training for the YMCA’s Gingerbread Jog?
The YMCA Gingerbread Jog is just 3 weeks away and that means it’s time to kick up your training.
Personal Trainer Meredith Atterbery said if you are training for a 5K you need to start by gaging your ability.
“This is a great time to test your current fitness. So you need to figure out where you are and where you’re going,” said Atterbery.
Atterbery said to prep for a 5K, you should be training all around fitness.
A few things to work on are flexibility, stability and movement.
“It’s increasing the distance you can go or increasing the speed that you can go,” said Atterbery.
If you know you can already run a 5K, Atterbery said to focus on speed.
If you are not sure if you can complete the 3 miles, Atterbery said to see how long you can run.
There are 3 weeks left to get ready for the run on December 15.
