BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The local YMCA is encouraging kids to be active Saturday, April 30 at its annual Healthy Kids Day.

“At the Y, we believe in the potential of all children and each day we work to help kids find that potential within themselves,” said Kristen Hogan, marketing director at YMCA of the Capital Area. “Healthy Kids Day is a fun, free community-wide event to kick off summer and remind us all how important it is for kids to stay active physically and mentally throughout the summer.”

The nationwide initiative teaches healthy habits, nutrition, and fitness. From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., kids are welcomed to attend to join in on the fun. Greater Baton Rouge YMCA locations hosting Healthy Kids Day:
