YWCA Greater Baton Rouge purchases property to expand services

Local News

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – YWCA of Greater Baton Rouge announced that they purchased a 12,000 square foot property in the area for a new location to expand their services.

The space will be used to house an early child care center for more than 200 students and expecting mothers. There will also be an addition of administrative offices for their range of programs, including an office for their bail fund, social justice, domestic violence prevention, rental housing assistance, and more.

“Over the past five years the YWCA has grown in both programming and staffing.  Our new campus located in the center of Baton Rouge will allow us to serve more children, women, and families, as well as explore new opportunities to address healthcare and workforce development needs for the people we serve,” said Dianna Payton, CEO.

Other amenities of the new location feature classrooms, office space, improved parking, laundry facilities, green outdoor space, and meeting room space.

“Allow me to thank every donor and supporter of the YWCA.  The love and support of many people and organizations is the reason this purchase was made possible,” said Kathy Fletcher, Board President.

YWCA of Greater Baton Rouge looks forward to moving to the new location by this September.
