ZACHARY, La. (BRPROUD) — Zachary Community School District (ZCSD) is asking parents to monitor their children for symptoms daily as COVID-19 surges.

ZCSD officials said to check for symptoms such as fever, shortness of breath, chest pain, cough, body aches, fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, loss of taste and/or smell, headache, sore throat and congestion.

Anyone in the student’s household is encouraged to stay home and get tested. ZCSD suggests testing at MCS Lab Public Testing (5500 Firestation Road) in Zachary. The testing location’s hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments can be made by clicking here.

ZCSD COVID-19 quarantine protocols

Students who have completed the primary series of vaccines and do not have symptoms:

  • Do not need to quarantine
  • May return to school and are required to mask for ten (10) days
  • Are recommended to be tested on day five (5)

Students who are unvaccinated and do not have symptoms:

  • Will stay home for five (5) days
  • May return to school on day six (6) and are required to wear a mask through day ten (10)
  • Are recommended to be tested on day five (5)
