BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Statistics indicate that over 1.7 million scholarships are awarded annually, and this fall, 14 of those scholarships went to Louisiana college students who stood out for their impressive achievements.

According to the Louisiana National Guard (LANG), the 14 students who were awarded with the Minuteman Scholarship attended the Reserve Officer Training Corps.

The Minuteman Scholarship covers four years of full tuition and fees or $10,000 for room and board at institutions served by an Army ROTC program.

The students will also receive a monthly stipend of $425 and an annual book allowance of $1,200.

LANG adds that the 14 recipients will also participate in a program called ‘Simultaneous Membership,’ which will give them experience with an Army National Guard unit while earning additional money for their service.
