Louisiana baseball coach in critical condition

NEW ORLEANS, La. (NBC Local 33) (FOX 44) – University of Louisiana – Lafayette head baseball coach Tony Robichaux is currently in critical condition, according to the ULL Ragin’ Cajuns athletic department.

Robichaux underwent a second heart surgery at Oschner Health Center on Sunday and is now in the Intensive Care Unit.

Coach Robichaux has received additional medical attention as a result of the incident suffered last Sunday. The Robichaux family asks specifically for prayer during this time. ~ Bryan Maggard, Director of Athletics

On Friday, the school said Robichaux would visit Oschner Health Center in New Orleans to “initiate the advancement of his recovery.”

Angels of Anaheim catcher and former Ragin’ Cajun Jonathan Lucroy asks people to pray for Robichaux.

Robichaux had a heart attack last week that hospitalized him at Lafayette General Hospital during the late evening hours of June 22. Following the procedure, ULL reported that the coach was expected to make a full and complete recovery.

Robichaux completed his 25th season at Louisiana in 2019, securing his 900th victory with the program during this past year. The leader of the Ragin’ Cajuns has compiled a career record of 1,177-767 (.605) during his 31 years as a head coach.
