Louisiana coronavirus death toll passes 11,000


BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – On Friday, LDH reported 5,313 new COVID cases and 31 new deaths.

Now that the weekend is over, the Louisiana Department of Health is updating their COVID-19 numbers and the fourth surge continues.

The latest COVID-19 information can be found below, courtesy of Louisiana Department of Health:

  • 11,109 new cases, bringing the number of total cases to 552,787
  • 27 new deaths, bringing the number of total deaths to 11,026
  • 1,984 COVID patients are currently in the hospital
  • 213 COVID patients are on ventilators

Since Friday, there has been an increase of 244 COVID patients in the hospital and 46 COVID patients on ventilators.

According to the Louisiana Department of Health, those not fully vaccinated account for a high number of cases, deaths and hospitalizations.
