Louisiana coroner identifies 61-year-old house fire victim

A Louisiana coroner has identified a 61-year-old man who was found dead inside a burning home that authorities determined didn’t have working smoke detectors.

The Caddo Coroner’s Office identified the victim on Thursday as Dave C. Jackson Sr. News outlets report that eight fire units and 24 firefighters responded to “heavy fire conditions” at a Shreveport home on Wednesday night.

The fire department says that when crews arrived, the roof of the home was collapsing and neighbors said they believed the homeowner was still inside. Jackson was found in the back of the home and pronounced dead.

The cause of the blaze is being investigated.
