The Louisiana Department of Health will partner with Walmart to provide free Hepatitis screenings at 10 Walmart locations each Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. from Dec. 11 to Feb. 1.

The Denham Springs and Livingston Walmarts are two of the stores participating in the screenings.
Louisiana Department of Health Communications Director Robert Johannessen wrote that the purpose of the initiative is to detect hepatitis C, and screening is the first step in eliminating the disease, which kills more people annually in the U.S. than the other 60 reportable infectious diseases combined.
