BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD)- The Louisiana Department of Wildfire and Fishers is hosting a ‘Reef Rodeo’ in partnership with the Claiborne Parish Watershed District Commission—to redistribute unused holiday trees to enhance the Claiborne Fish Habitat. The event is held on Jan. 15 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Arizona Road.
The Reef Rodeo is where unused Christmas trees are converted in to “fish attractors.”
The LDWF has collected over 200 unused Christmas trees from local vendors for anglers to disperse throughout fishing areas, to used in the Reef Rodeo, according to LDWF.
Participants will be given trees they can place in their favorite fishing spot to attract fish. Participants may also provide their own weights; concrete cinder blocks are often used.
