BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Louisiana House Education Committee removed a person speaking against HB81 on Wednesday afternoon.

Chairman Lance Harris called a trio of speakers to the table. The first person to speak noted that he did not say their first name when they were called.

Harris said he couldn’t read it properly.

The person advocating for LGBTQ rights said it was an example of the ignorance of committee members and asked if any members spoke any language other than English.

They repeatedly referred to the committee as ignorant or displaying ignorance when Harris cut their microphone and said he wouldn’t allow an attack on the elected officials to continue. He called for the sergeant at arms, and the person continued to talk until security guards came to remove them.

They asked not to be grabbed, citing health concerns, and walked out of the session under their own power.

According to Louisiana State Police, the person was cited for causing a disturbance by Louisiana DPS but did not have the exact charges.
