BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – June was a good month for those that played the lottery in Louisiana.

More than $8.5 million was won in draw-style games during last month and scratch-off players collected more than $18.3 million in cash prizes, according to the Louisiana Lottery.

“More than 21,000 Power Play purchasers won an extra $169,977 in addition to their regular Powerball prizes for a total of $263,442 in winnings,” Lottery President Rose Hudson said. “Also, more than 22,000 Megaplier purchasers won a bonus total of $139,378 in addition to their regular Mega Millions prizes for $230,710 in total winnings.” The $1 Power Play option offers Powerball players the chance to increase any nonjackpot winnings. The $1 Megaplier add-on multiplies nonjackpot Mega Millions prizes by a multiplier number selected during the drawing.

Draw-style game winnings from drawings held in June were $8,571,763 in total.

According to Louisiana Lottery, if you played a draw-style game, you have 180 days from the date of the drawing to collect your winnings.

“We encourage players to sign the back of their tickets immediately after purchasing and to check them promptly after the drawing. Even if a ticket does not win the jackpot, it could have won another prize,” Hudson added.

Lotto players took in exactly $18,344,507 in scratch-off cash prizes over the last month.

Other players did well too, taking home $3,143,186 in free-ticket prizes.
