HAUGHTON, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — A Haughton man has been arrested after holding two people at gunpoint during an early morning standoff with Bossier Parish deputies.

According to the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office, shortly before 5:30 a.m. Friday SWAT members took 53-year-old Dale Philip Manning into custody after an hours-long standoff in the 600 block of Highway 3227 near Haughton Middle School.

Around 1:30 a.m. deputies responded to a family disturbance call involving Manning, his stepmom, and stepdad.

The stepmom told deputies that Manning was intoxicated and pointed a gun at her, preventing her from leaving the home. She also said Manning punched her in the chest several times.

The stepdad also said Manning held him at gunpoint, preventing him from leaving. At one point, the stepdad was able to get possession of the gun. A struggle ensued, and the stepdad discharged the gun, striking Manning in the leg. Manning then took the gun and hit his stepdad, just before he was able to run away from the home.

Manning also barricaded himself at the home, occasionally leaving and firing his gun into the air and at his vehicle in the driveway.

After several hours, BSO patrol deputies and detectives, along with LSP, Haughton Police and Fire, and Bossier Parish EMS were able to bring the dangerous situation to a peaceful ending.

Manning surrendered to deputies after communicating with the BSO Crisis Negotiation Team.

Manning faces multiple charges, including two counts of Domestic Abuse Battery, two counts of False Imprisonment, one count of Simple Robbery, one count of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, and one count of Illegal Use of a Weapon.

Manning was treated at the scene and then taken to Ochsner LSU Health for further evaluation.

Once released, Manning will be booked into the Bossier Maximum Security Facility where he faces a $505,000 bond.

Meanwhile, Highway 3227 was temporarily blocked for a few hours but the scene was cleared in time for the start of school.
