Louisiana man arrested for Social Security Office bomb threat, police say he was “upset he didn’t get his check”



UPDATE: MONROE, La. — A Monroe man has been arrested after police say he made a bomb threat on the Monroe Social Security Office.

According to arrest reports for 43-year-old Dennis Murphy, employees at the Pennsylvania Social Security Office received a bomb threat from Murphy in regards to the Monroe Social Security Office around 8 A.M. on Thursday.

Due to that threat, the entire building was evacuated.

Murphy stated to police that he told the Pennsylvania Social Security Office “does he have to blow something up to get something done.” Murphy told police that he made the threat because he was upset that he didn’t get his check.

Murphy has been booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on one count of Terrorizing. Bond has not been set at this time.

ORIGINAL: MONROE, La. — The Monroe Police Department is currently investigating a bomb threat at the Social Security Office.

Officials say the call originated from Ouachita Parish but was called into the Social Security Office Call Center in Pennsylvania.
