GRAND BAYOU, La. (BRPROUD) – A reckless driver complaint ended with the arrest of Benito Meza, 40, of Houma.

Iberville Parish 911 received the call around 4:50 a.m. and a deputy with the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office was able to spot Meza driving on LA 69.

A traffic stop was performed and the deputy proceeded to question the Houma man.

“The deputy conducted a series of field sobriety tests of which Benito Meza performed poorly,” according to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.

APSO said that a subsequent breath test on Meza came back with a BAC of .094.

Meza was arrested and charged with the crimes listed below:

  • Driving While Intoxicated – Third Offense
  • No Driver’s License
  • Possession of Alcoholic Beverages in a Motor Vehicle
  • Switched License Plate

The 40-year-old remains behind bars in the Assumption Parish Detention Center.

Bond has not been set for Benito Meza.
