PIERRE PART, La. (BRPROUD) – A Pierre Part resident is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to Negligent Homicide, Reckless Operation, and No Seatbelt.

The guilty plea stems from a deadly crash that took place in 2021 on LA 1016-2.

Kole Bahry, 22, of Plattenville was killed in the crash.

Bahry was in a vehicle driven by Dean Putz Jr., 25, of Pierre Part.

At the time of the deadly crash, Putz, Jr. resided in Indiana.

The duo was in a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck on Belle River Rd. when Putz Jr. lost control.

Investigators concluded that Putz Jr., was driving “at an extremely high rate of speed in excess of 100 MPH,” according to the 23rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

The truck eventually overturned in between hitting two utility poles.

Bahry died at the crash scene and Putz Jr. sustained serious injuries.

Putz Jr., was found to have a blood alcohol content of .07g%.

At the conclusion of the investigation, Putz Jr., was apprehended and taken to the Assumption Parish Jail.

The Pierre Part man could spend up to five years behind bars.
