BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The deadline is quickly approaching for residents to claim millions of dollars in state tax refunds before they go to the state’s Unclaimed Property fund on Monday, Aug. 28.
According to a release from the Louisiana Department of Revenue, paper checks will be issued to all taxpayers submitting claims with a voucher or electronically by the Aug. 28 deadline.
Back in July, LDR sent a letter to over 15,000 individual and business taxpayers telling them to claim their refunds before they are moved to the Unclaimed Property Division. Over $8 million remains unclaimed, according to the release.
LDR said taxpayers who got letters can claim their refunds by visiting www.revenue.louisiana.gov/UnclaimedRefund or returning a completed voucher attached to the Notice of Unclaimed Property letter dated July 19.
