WASHINGTON, D.C. (BRPROUD) — FEMA will be granting $3,666,416.57 in Hurricane Ida relief for debris removal reimbursement in Kenner, according to Louisiana senators.
“Months after Hurricane Ida, our communities are still returning to normal,” said Senator Bill Cassidy. “This funding will help Kenner fully recover and prepare for the next disaster.”
“This $3.7 million will help the Kenner community after it cleared debris and began recovery when Hurricane Ida dealt our state an incredible blow,” said Senator John Kennedy.
Additional funds from FEMA were recently announced, including $38 million for several recipients, $90 million for south and central Louisiana to clear debris and fix infrastructure, and $10.6 million for South Louisiana Electric Cooperative.
Days ahead of the start of hurricane season, the NOAA is predicting an “above-average” season this year, with up to 10 storms expected to become hurricanes.
