BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Louisiana Office of Tourism announced the state of Louisiana will participate in the 97th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
According to a release, Louisiana’s float, the Celebration Gator, will take the streets of New York. The Gator celebrates Louisiana’s culture and tourism as it showcases the designs and architecture of the New Orleans French Quarter.
The 60-foot-long alligator-themed float will feature Cajun fiddler Amanda Shaw of Mandeville and country singer Alex Smith of Alexandria. Along with the musicians, the float will be accompanied by guests in gator costumes and stilt walkers.
“We are excited to have Amanda and Alex riding the Louisiana float this year and performing for us,” said Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser. “Once again, it is an amazing opportunity to share with the world our music and how Louisianans can Feed Your Soul with our celebratory spirit.”
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will air nationwide on NBC and stream on Peacock from 8:30 a.m. EST until noon EST Thursday, Nov. 23.
