BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Most agencies affected by a statewide outage that caused systems to go down are operating again on Friday. OMV offices around the state, however, are still offline through Monday, May 22.

The outage was reported on Thursday, May 18.

Jacques Berry, the director of Policy and Communication for the Louisiana Division of Administration, said there was a hardware failure Wednesday night that included the affected systems.

“While most of our systems are back online following yesterday’s hardware failure, we’re still experiencing connectivity issues with Office of Motor Vehicles locations. All OMV field offices statewide will be closed until Monday, May 22,” he said.

Berry said there was no outside interference and all the issues were caused by the hardware failure.

What’s back online?

The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the Louisiana Department of Child and Family Services were reportedly affected.

The outage caused issues with the DCFS toll-free Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline. On Thursday, the agency said to make emergency reports to law enforcement until the toll number was operating again.

LDWF said that staff could not make or answer phone calls. The agency also could not process boat registrations or licenses.

The Louisiana Department of Health’s Medicaid customer service call center and its self-service portal were also not working due to the outage.
