BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Louisianans can start filing their state income tax returns Monday, Jan. 23.

As the Louisiana Department of Revenue begins accepting 2022 state income tax returns, the IRS will also begin accepting federal income tax returns.

Taxpayers in Louisiana can file electronically through Louisiana File Online. The online system also allows taxpayers to check in on the status of their tax refunds and amend current and previous tax returns.

Those who prefer to file tax returns on paper can find forms to print at revenue.louisiana.gov/Forms.

Officials said taxpayers who need to update their contact information can do so by visiting www.revenue.louisiana.gov/AddressChange.

The state department of revenue said refunds from taxes filed electronically can be expected within 45 days of filing while refunds from paper returns can take up to 14 weeks.
