BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Homes in the U.S. will be bustling with activity on Thanksgiving Day as family and friends gather to eat plenty of turkey and be thankful.
There’s one thought on everyone’s mind once every guest has walked through the door: “What time do we eat?” A survey of 3,000 Americans by Shane Co. determined when each state sits down for dinner.
In Louisiana, the survey found that people eat their Thanksgiving meal mid-afternoon between 2-4 p.m. The majority of states, 70% of respondents, eat in the mid-afternoon.
The study also determined who’s invited to the holiday dinner by state. Sixty-three percent of Louisianans surveyed invited extended family and friends to the meal. Neighboring states Arkansas and Mississippi opt only to invite immediate family.
