BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Louisiana State Police warns citizens of a phone scam across the state with scammers posing as state police officers to get information.
According to state police, impersonators are calling potential victims pretending to be law enforcement officers to get information over the phone.
Troopers suggest citizens should never give unknown callers personal information over the phone and said the Louisiana State Police will never ask for any form of payment or donation over the phone.
Citizens are urged to report suspected scam calls to the Louisiana State Analytical and Fusion Center (LA-SAFE) at 225-925-4192. LSP also has a reporting system online, which is submitted directly to investigators.
