Louisiana unemployment claims still at record high

NEW ORLEANS, La. (WDSU) — Nearly 20,000 people in Louisiana filed new unemployment claims last week.

That is down from the week before but is still at record levels, according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission.

The Louisiana Workforce Commission reports Thursday that more than 300,000 people in the state are receiving continuous jobless benefits.

That is also down from the week before but still represents 16% of the state’s eligible workforce.
