JACKSON COUNTY, Texas (BRPROUD) – A Louisiana woman is behind bars in Texas after a pursuit ended on US 59N over the weekend.
Hilma Ziyad, 51, of Louisiana, was arrested in Jackson County on Saturday, July 30.
The pursuit started with one Victoria Police Department K9 Officer around 8:15 p.m. on US 59S.
The K9 Officer noticed that the Ford Fusion was reported stolen.

Ziyad restarted the pursuit which led to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office putting out “spike strips.”
Two of the tires on the Ford Fusion were successfully deflated and the “vehicle came to a stop on US 59N near FM 234S in Jackson County, where commands were again given for the driver to exit the vehicle and again failed to comply and again drove away,” according to the Victoria Police Department.
Ziyad drove away for a third time but eventually stopped and was arrested by the Victoria Police Department.
A search of the Ford Fusion uncovered a 9mm handgun.
