HOUMA, La. (WDSU) —
The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff announced the arrest of a Houma woman who was charged with cruelty to a juvenile.
Sheriff Jerry J. Larpenter said that Shiloh Jade Nichole Fitch repeatedly struck a 9-year-old relative in her care for not completing two pages of multiplication questions, to a point where bruising was caused.
PSO detectives investigated after a report was received on Thursday, Aug. 22.
Fitch, 36, was taken into custody and booked at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on a single count of cruelty to a juvenile.
She bonded out on a $20,000 surety Friday afternoon.
A judge has ordered that Fitch stay away from the child and the child’s school.
The mathematics work was assigned by Fitch and not by a teacher or other educator.
