UPDATE:

The Louisiana State Police identified the bicyclist killed on Wednesday in St. Tammany Parish as Alejandro Otilio Reyes-Meza, 59 of Covington.

(10/31):

A fatal crash claimed the life of a bicyclist along LA 36 in Tammany Parish Tuesday late night.

According to Louisiana State Police, troopers responded to the scene of a reported collision on LA 36 near 7th Street around 11 p.m. on October 30, 2018.

Upon arrival, investigators determined that the cyclist was riding a mountain style bicycle westbound on LA 36 on or near the solid white fog line.

Based on evidence gathered at the scene, Troopers determined that the bicycle was not equipped with safety lamps as required by Louisiana revised statue.

The cyclist was wearing dark colored clothing and was not wearing a helmet.

We’re told the crash occurred as 26-year-old Kristofer Donelle Brumfield of Covington was driving a 2014 Nissan Maxima westbound on LA 36 approaching the cyclist from the rear.

The right front bumper of the Maxima impacted the bicycle. The impact caused the bicyclist to be ejected.

Troopers are withholding the name of the deceased pending notification to next of kin.
