Family identifies victim in deputy-involved shooting

UPDATE:

The family of the shooting victim in this case has identified Christopher Whitfield as the person who was killed early Monday morning.

The East Feliciana Sheriff’s Office said a suspected burglary attempt occurred at a Texaco gas station around 1 a.m. or 2 a.m.

The gas station is located at the intersection of LA-19/10.

The deputy involved in this shooting has not been identified and was placed on administrative leave.

The East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office is spearheading this investigation with the assistance of the Louisiana State Police.

According to the East Feliciana Sheriff’s Office, “Whitfield was shot and killed behind the gas station.”

The family of Christopher Whitfield says they have not seen him and have not been given any information from law enforcement.
