Louisiana State Police arrested a man after they say he arrived at a crash scene to tow the vehicle and was under the influence.

Darrell Patton, 57 of Downsville, was arrested Tuesday night.

According to the arrest report, Patton drove a 2007 Peterbilt Tow Truck to a single vehicle crash on La. 151, just north of I-20. Troopers were there investigating the crash scene when Patton arrived.

The recovery of the crashed vehicle took about 30 minutes

Troopers say Patton loaded the crashed pickup truck, cleared the scene and responded to them to finish up the crash investigation.

As troopers were speaking to Patton, they smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him.

Troopers asked Patton to perform a field sobriety test to which he performed poorly.

Patton was placed under arrest and booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on one count of DWI 1stoffense.

Patton posted his $1,000 bond just an hour after being incarcerated.
