LSU announces ‘Tiger Twelve’ senior class of 2021


BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — LSU has announced the names of the 12 graduating seniors who have received this year’s “Tiger Twelve Award,” an honor reserved for students who make an impact on campus and in the community.

“Students selected as members of the Tiger Twelve are undergraduate seniors who contribute positively to the life of the campus, surrounding community, and society and who demonstrate commitment to intellectual achievement, inclusive excellence, leadership in campus life, and service,” a press release from LSU Media Relations Director Ernie Ballard reads.

To receive the honor, students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. The average GPA of this year’s recipients is 3.79, according to the press release.

LSU provided the following list of students who received the “Tiger Twelve” honor this year:

Samantha L. Beekman

  • Dual Degree: Mass communication with a concentration in political communication and international studies with a concentration in global diplomacy
  • Minors: Arabic and French
  • Hometown: West Monroe, La.

Justin Franklin

  • Major: Mass communication with a concentration in political communication
  • Minor: History
  • Hometown: Memphis, Tenn.

Alaysia Jenal Johnson

  • Major: Mass communication with a concentration in political communication
  • Minor: African & African American studies
  • Hometown: Aberdeen, Md.

Matthew Johnson

  • Majors: Interdisciplinary studies with concentrations in communication studies, leadership development, and business administration
  • Graduating May 2021 (interdisciplinary studies); Graduated December 2020 (psychology)
  • Hometown: Baton Rouge, La.

Alexander P. Landry

  • Major: Dual Degree: Biochemistry and chemistry with a concentration in pre-professional chemistry
  • Minor: Business administration
  • Hometown: Baton Rouge, La.

Nhung H. Ngo
