A new partnership with LSU and Ochsner is on the way in north Louisiana after a cooperate endeavor agreement was reached at Friday’s LSU Board of Supervisor’s September meeting.
The LSU Board of Supervisors approved a cooperative endeavor agreement, or CEA, for a public-private partnership related to the management and operation of public hospitals in Shreveport and Monroe.
We want to thank everyone for their hard work over this past year to find a long-term solution for health care delivery in Shreveport and Monroe, as well supporting the LSU Health Sciences Center and its teaching mission.” LSU President F. King Alexander said.
“This partnership will create opportunities for growth and expansion of LSU Health Shreveport while ensuring success for Ochsner as our hospital partner. As we’ve said all along, we are committed to improving outcomes for patients, while training the nation’s finest healthcare professionals right here and across Louisiana.”
Ochsner will bring their nationally-recognized expertise to the management of operations for all hospitals, clinics and the clinical activity of LSU’s Faculty Group Practice. LSU will continue to successfully oversee the LSUHSC-S School of Medicine, School of Allied Health and School of Graduate Studies.
“I am exceedingly grateful to President Alexander, his staff and the Board of Supervisors for their tremendous efforts to ensure that LSU Health Shreveport is positioned to deliver optimal patient outcomes and medical education. The vote approving an agreement with Ochsner Health System as our new hospital partner is a vote for a brighter future for our health sciences center and healthcare in north Louisiana,” LSU Health Shreveport Chancellor G. E. Ghali said.
The agreement reflects a 50/50 partnership between LSU Health Shreveport and Ochsner with a shared vision for advancing healthcare and medical education in North Louisiana. As part of the agreement, a new governing board will be formed with representation from LSU Health Shreveport, Ochsner and the North Louisiana communities they serve.
Under the terms of the agreement, Ochsner LSU Health System of North Louisiana will go live Oct. 1, 2018.
