Weather could change plans for LSU Championship Celebration

BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33/FOX 44) – Plans are coming together for a Championship Celebration for the LSU football team and its college football national championship win.

The celebration is on Saturday, January 18 on LSU’s campus. It will start at 11 a.m. at LSU’s school of music. The parade will go through campus and end up at the west side of Tiger Stadium.

The National Championship Celebration will start at Noon outside Tiger Stadium.

“It’s pretty exciting. A lot of people have been talking about it, but the parade I think it will be pretty cool to cap it off,” LSU student Sam Easter said.

Tiger band member Alex Planche said, “Oh, incredible. I’m very excited to participate in it. I hope everybody shows up. It’s gonna be a lot of fun.”

Admission is free and fans are encouraged to be there, but the weather could change those plans. It could rain Saturday.

Organizers are coming up with a back up plan. That would mean the parade featuring the players and coaches would get canceled. The National Championship Celebration will then get moved inside the PMAC. Some players and coaches will speak. There will also be a trophy presentation.

The will be free parking around campus. Food and beverage concession stands will be open in Lot 101. You can also buy national championship gear.
