BATON ROUGE, La. (FOX 44) (LOCAL 33) LSU fans gathered outside of BTR Metropolitan Airport Sunday morning to welcome their Tigers home.
The Tigers beat the Oklahoma Sooners 63-28 at the Peach Bowl, The College Football Playoff Semifinal game in Atlanta.
“The coaching.. the team.. it’s been an evolution and it’s made every single one of us so proud of them,” Tiger fan Sheryl McGinnis said.
The win over Oklahoma will send the LSU Tigers straight to the National Championship game in New Orleans.
One longtime Tiger fan said this team is unlike anything he’s ever seen before.
“I never thought in my 41 years of life I would ever see 692 yards of offense.. I just shake my head in amazement sometimes,” LSU fan Kevin Toler said.
The Tigers opponent will be the Clemson Tigers.
“We’ll take Clemson, Clemson is a good team. I’m not taking it from them, but Joe Burrow… he’s going to make this finish. He’s going to see this finish out,” LSU fan Hawana King said.
The National Championship game will be played on January 13th at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
