GONZALEZ, La. (LOCAL 33)(FOX 44)- It was a close call the lingered for hours on end. LSU took the lead against the Crimson Tide well into the first quarter, but Tiger fans at Gilla Brewing Co didn’t know whether to celebrate or count their blessings.
LSU fan, Nathan Tipton, said he didn’t know what to expect from this game.
“I know Alabama. You cannot count them out,” Tipton said.
Nathan Tipton and his family were sitting on the edge of their seats for most of the game. They like everyone else in the bar cycled through three emotions: nervousness, excitement, and confidence. But the worst feeling was the last quarter.
“When there was a minute thirty seconds left, they were saying game over, game over,” Tipton said. “I was like, this is Alabama. Don’t say game over there’s too much time.”
But right in the thick of suspense, something amazing happened. Justin Jefferson recovered an onside kick and LSU ran out the clock. The tense atmosphere inside the bar went from stoic to celebratory. The Tiptons were right there to join in.
“Joe burrow! I mean if this guy isn’t a Heisman trophy winner there is something wrong with the process,” Julius Tipton said.
This last win has tiger fans hopeful for what the purple and gold have in store for the rest of the season.
