GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) — The “Battle of the Burnside” is happening at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6. East Ascension is set to battle with the St. Amant Gators at Spartan Stadium.

St. Amant comes into the rivalry game with a 5-0 record, while East Ascension sits at 1-4. Fans have something to look forward to in addition to the game.

Former LSU star Glenn Dorsey is scheduled to attend and be the honorary game captain. Dorsey attended East Ascension High School from 2000 to 2003. Principal Lauren Avery highlighted Dorsey’s accomplishments, including being the 2003 Louisiana Defensive Player of the Year and a 2003 Parade All-American.

Dorsey left the Spartans and went on to excel at LSU. He was a member of the 2007 BCS National Championship team.

East Ascension High School confirmed that no one has put on the #72 jersey in a varsity game since Dorsey left for LSU.
