LSU mourning the loss of longtime professor killed in bicycle crash over the weekend


BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – 77-year-old Norimoto Murai died at a local hospital after being hit by an SUV on Saturday morning.

Norimoto Murai was hit around 11 a.m. in the 700 block of Stanford Ave.

Murai was a professor at LSU’s AgCenter Biotechnology Laboratory.

Interim Vice President for Agriculture and Dean of the College of Agriculture, Luke Laborde Jr., released this statement after learning about the death of one of their own:

“We are deeply saddened by the death of a member of our agricultural family, Dr. Noritomo Murai. Dr. Murai was a trusted colleague of the LSU AgCenter for over 30 years. He will be missed.”
