BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD)- According to one source, 316,032 Americans are arrested for drunkenness annually and Louisiana is not immune to such statistics.
Over the weekend, police were called to South Stadium Drive on LSU’s campus in regards to a man accused of trying to fight someone in the middle of the street.
According to public records, the suspect was identified as 24-year-old Jack Brown of Eunice and it was Saturday, September 17 when LSU Police found him inebriated near the Public Safety Building on South Stadium Drive.
A report completed by one of the officers states that upon attempting to approach Brown, he “began yelling profanities and starting advancing towards officers… officers made multiple attempts to retreat, but Brown kept advancing and yelling profanities.”
After allegedly chasing the officers while screaming curses at them, police say Brown continued to fight their every effort to engage with him.
An affidavit confirms that police were eventually able to handcuff and arrest the 24-year-old.
He was charged with disturbing the peace (drunkenness) and resisting an officer before being jailed on a bond amount of $1,530.
Records indicate Brown paid the bond amount and was released from custody by Sunday, September 18.
