LSU received the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award for the seventh time from INSIGHT Into Diversity Magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education.
The HEED Award is a national honor recognizing U.S. colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion, and LSU’s Office of Diversity was chosen as a recipient because of its commitment to enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion.
“It’s an honor to be recognized nationally for our continued efforts to build an institution that is more reflective of our state, nation and world,” LSU President F. King Alexander said. “We want our campus to mirror the world with students, faculty and staff from all backgrounds, races and nationalities.”
The HEED Award process includes a comprehensive application with questions relating to the recruitment and retention of students and employees in conjunction with the institution’s continued leadership support for diversity, magazine publisher Lenore Pearlstein said.
LSU will be featured, along with 92 other recipients, in the November 2019 issue of INSIGHT Into Diversity Magazine.
