LSU Tailgate Season Begins Saturday

The LSU football team will have their home opener against Southeastern on Saturday night. LSU’s campus was buzzing in anticipation of the first tailgate of the season. “Campus is going to be like a big ole family reunion,” said LSU student, Jasmine Mungai.

“It’s the whole state of Louisiana that supports this University, and tailgating is one of the most visible ways to see that,” said LSU student, Kane Aguila.

Former LSU coach Les Miles agreed, saying the LSU fans are a huge part of Louisiana culture. “I think the people of Louisiana are so giving and so embrace their time off, I think they work hard, and I think they play hard, and I think that’s why tailgating is so popular around these Tigers,” said Miles.

Miles believes there’s little difference between a party and a tailgate, but said tailgates have more of an emphasis on food. He also offered some advice for tailgaters, “Don’t eat before you come to the game, plan on meeting a lot of people that you don’t know their name when you walk in, that you will know them extremely well as you head back to your living arrangements.”

Kickoff will be at 6 p.m., for parking information visit:
