LSU’s Championship Parade and Celebration: What you need to know


BATON ROUGE, La. (NBC 33) (FOX 44) – Barricades are up, signs are posted and the fun awaits.

“We have a parade tomorrow, we’re national champions.”
“It’s going to be exciting to see that, never really experienced that before.”
“I’m going to be in the same city as like four of the greatest players in college football.”

Friday evening, people worked around the clock, preparing LSU’s campus for Saturday’s celebration.

“It reminds me a lot of like New Orleans, you know getting ready for Mardi Gras.

The parade is scheduled to roll through campus, starting at the school of music, beginning at 11 o’clock. It will then take this route, ending in front of tiger stadium.

“I think it’s awesome that they’re doing this for Baton Rouge. I mean, for the whole state of Louisiana. There are probably people from all over coming just to see this parade” said LSU fan, Cameron Westney

LSU student, Emily Kleefisch said, “It’s really good to see that it’s not just a little parade that they’re throwing together. It’s this big thing they’re having everything blocked off and making sure everything is going to be safe.”

Many people are planning to get there early due to the parking restrictions and guidelines in place.

The university has designated which parking lots are reserved and which ones are closed.


The parking lots and spaces listed below that are located on the parade route will be closed to all vehicles. Personal vehicles left in these lots will be subject to relocation beginning at 5 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18. Once the area is secured, no LSU departmental vehicles parked in the lots will be allowed to exit.

  • Lot 203 (Peabody)
  • Lot 204 (Thomas Boyd)
  • Lot 202 (Indian Mounds)
  • Huey P. Long Circle
  • Music & Dramatic Arts Circle
  • Street parking along Dalrymple Drive
  • Street parking along Donahue Drive
  • Street parking along Fieldhouse Drive


The parking lots listed below will be reserved for parade-related vehicles. Unauthorized vehicles in these lots will be subject to relocation beginning at 5 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18.

  • Lot 101 (West Stadium Lot)
  • Lot 104 (Bernie Moore Lot)
  • Lot 201 (PMAC Lot)
  • Lot 300 (Powerhouse Lane)
  • Lot 405 (Football Operations)

LSU officials said, they are expecting a lot of traffic, but fans said, that won’t stop them from enjoying the party.

“If we get here earlier enough, I’m sure parking would be fine. This is a walking campus so everything is walking distance so it’ll be find no matter how far we have to park.”

“We’re probably going to leave at five in the morning to come here, we’re going to start tailgating early.”
