Baton Rouge Police have a man in custody in connection to an alleged murder of 76-year-old woman in their apartment at 3300 Loan Oak Drive.
According to authorities, Lovie Variste was found Variste deceased in the rear bedroom of the apartment around 1:08 p.m. Wednesday afternoon suffering from severe trauma to the head.
Eric Romell Augustus, 49, verbally admitted to beating with various objects after smoking “mojo.”
Augustus will be booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and charged with 1st Degree Murder.
