Update: Victim identified in early morning shooting on Hanks Dr.

The Baton Rouge Police Department released the name of the man killed in a shooting early Monday morning.

Investigators said 48-year-old Derrick Parish was found shot several times.

Detectives said Parish was found around 2:30 am Monday morning lying in a parking lot within the 6200 block of Hanks Dr.

The motive and possible suspect(s) are unknown at this time.

The Baton Rouge Police Department was called to a reported shooting on Hanks Dr. near Airline Hwy.

BRPD said that “around 2:30 a.m. we responded to 6489 Hanks Dr. regarding reports of shots fired.”

After arriving at the scene, officers located a man who was “suffering from apparent gunshot wounds,” according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.

Medical personnel determined that the shooting victim was dead.

The investigation into this case remains open.
