Man from Louisiana accused of raping girl, 12, located with help of public, sheriff’s office says

LACOMBE, La. (WDSU) — A Northshore man is accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl, officials said.

Lee Cousin, 35, was arrested Thursday a charge of first-degree rape, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, detectives began an investigation when they were notified about the girl being sexually abused at a Lacombe home.

Investigators gathered enough evidence to obtain a warrant for Cousin, officials said.

Cousin had evaded arrest when the warrant was issued Tuesday. He was found Thursday at a Slidell area business with the help of the public, officials said.

Additional details were not released by the Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 985-898-2338.
