PORT ALLEN, La. (BRPROUD) – The West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office was called to a deadly crash around 11 p.m. in the 4300 block of Rougon Road on Friday, October 13. The crash involved one vehicle and it was driven by Dedrick Manchester, 43, of New Roads. Manchester was killed after his vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a home.
Before crashing into the home, his vehicle struck a gas main, WBRSO said. After that, it ended up in “the bedroom of a 9-year-old girl,” according to the West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office. The girl was hurt and taken to a local hospital. WBRSO said she suffered moderate injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing but detectives “suspect that impairment and speed” played a part in this deadly crash according to the West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators are waiting for toxicology results in this case.
