BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A celebration is taking place on Tuesday morning in the parking lot of LSU’s Mid-City Clinic.
The Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center is recognizing what they are calling “a substantial milestone” at 10:30 a.m.
The “substantial milestone” has to do with the ‘Prevention on the Go’ program.
Free cancer screenings will be available to everyone from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. through the ‘Prevention on the Go’ program.
The ‘Prevention on the Go’ program is going to hit 100,000 screenings during this screening event.
Did you know that over the last 19 years, this program has helped detect more than 750 cancers?
Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center describes the program this way:
Prevention on the Go is designed to provide education and early detection services in locations where people live, worship, shop and play. Using our mobile medical clinics, the Cancer Center travels throughout Southeastern Louisiana and beyond to serve thousands of participants each year.
Information on free, future breast and colorectal cancer screenings can be found here.
